DESCRIÇÃO SUMÁRIA
The project aims to develop new, competitive products in the area of thermal tourism, taking advantage of the local natural resources, that can play an important role in the economic development of the region.
It takes into account the physico-chemical properties of the thermal water of Cró, along with its different therapeutic possibilities, essential oils obtained from plants from the region, and the potential of developing dermocosmetic formulas using micro and /or nano-transporters to promote absorption through the skin.
This in an innovative approach, and is proposed as one of the most relevant innovation tools in the thermal spa sector.
The use of natural components, namely essential oils, in the development of new dermocosmetic formulas has been pointed out as one of the more interesting possibilities of the sector, when taking into account its extensively described biological activities. Here this potential is gathered with the therapeutic proprieties of the thermal water Cró, and the skilled professionals of the proposing institutions – practice based research activity. Here natural resources are combined in a novel innovative targeted delivery systems of the bioactive molecules.
The project gathers a highly skilled and multidisciplinary team that hopefully will provide both the scientific and commercial input needed to fulfill all goals in the tight schedule and to eventually bring a new product to the market. It is expected that this product will have an economic impact in the region.
